Finers Stephens Innocent found itself in the headlines last year thanks to the work carried out by litigation partner Mark Stephens on ­behalf of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. The work ensured that Finers maintained a high profile, while a solid performance from the firm’s traditionally strong property team helped take turnover to £17m.

lthough this represented a drop of £500,000 compared with 2009-10, this was the first full financial year since the December 2009 exit of the personal injury team, so it represents a recovery of sorts.

Employment also had a good year, and while corporate experienced some turmoil in its core AIM work, it began picking up insolvency-­related instructions towards the end of the year.

Finers hired corporate partner Simon Lovell from Taylor Wessing and employment partner David Evans from Edwin Coe during the year.

The firm now has 40 partners, including 10 equity partners, and a qualified lawyer headcount of 69.
