Aberdeen-based Paull & Williamsons makes its debut in The Lawyer’s UK 200 with a turnover of £13.9m. The firm is best known for its ­energy group. In the past year head of oil and gas, partner Bruce McLeod, advised on the merger between Silverstone and Bridge ­Energy. He also counts BP as a key client.

Paull & Williamsons’ 29 partners produced a revenue per partner of £479,000, while its 51 lawyers generated on average £273,000 apiece.

The firm’s employment team is also seen as a key practice, with Paull & Williamsons picking up a five-year contract to provide employment legal services to the Robert Gordon University in March.

The firm is loyal to its roots, with chairman Gordon Buchan combining his day job ­advising those in the energy sector with a role as a director of Aberdeen FC.
