Manchester-based JMW had a steady 2010-11, growing its revenue by a marginal 1.8 per cent following a banner year in 2009-10. Net profit showed a slight decline, largely the result of an unusual number of clinical negligence cases in the previous year that had pushed figures up significantly. As a result average profit per equity partner for 2010-11 was around £250,000, ­representing a drop of 35.2 per cent.

The firm saw significant growth in employment and private client and also strengthened commercial through increased business ­development activity and lateral hiring. This in turn has bolstered its client roster.

JMW’s board manages most of the key ­decisions, although the management team handles the day-to-day business.
