EAD turned over £8.9m in 2010-11, slightly down on the previous year’s £9.1m. Last year’s turnover represented, in turn, a 1 per cent ­increase on 2008-09’s, showing that the firm’s story has been one of steadiness. Revenue per lawyer increased from £182,000 in 2009-10 to roughly £198,000 in 2010-11.

The Liverpool-based practice covers a broad range of professional negligence, personal ­injury and commercial litigation. Strengths ­include employment and acting for claimants in clinical negligence cases. Litigation ­contributes 32 per cent to the firm’s turnover, while the property practice accounts for 13 per cent of overall income.

The slim firm has 19 partners, of whom 10 are equity. Of 142 staff, 66 are fee-earners and 45 are qualified lawyers.
